Tournaments - Trevor Ettinger – Jeff Smith Memorial

The East Hants Minor Hockey Association is hosting the Trevor Ettinger – Jeff Smith Memorial Tournament at the East Hants Sportsplex in Lantz, Nova Scotia. The tournament is open to U9 development, U9 intermediate and recreational teams in U11, U13, U15 and U18. Important 2026 offering U15B.

Tournament Dates are Saturday March 14^th to Thursday March 19^th. Expected dates for each division provided below.

Recreational U11 - U18 Overview:

Each team is guaranteed 3 games
There will be Semi-Finals and a Championship game at each division
- if a division only has 4 teams total, there will only be a Championship game
- If a division has 16 teams total, Quarter finals will be added
Championship banner per Division as well as mini banner for Gold and medals for Silver
All games are three 10 minute periods stop time
Tournament entry is first come, first serve and there are no cancellations. If a team chooses not to travel due to weather, the missed game is considered a 5-0 loss
Tournament entry fee for U11 - U18 is $1000
Teams must have a valid Travel Permit
Only players registered on the official team rosters with Hockey Nova Scotia (or their respective branch of HC) are permitted, no exceptions without written approval of the EHMHA Tournament Chair prior to acceptance into the tournament (exceptional circumstances notwithstanding). Teams violating this policy will be disqualified from the tournament
Out of province teams welcome pending approval from Hockey Nova Scotia
U11 will run Saturday March 14th, Sunday March 15th and Monday March 16th
U13 will run Monday March 16th, Tuesday March 17th and Wednesday March 18th
U15 will run Tuesday March 17th, Wednesday March 18th and Thursday March 19th
U18 will run Tuesday March 17th, Wednesday March 18th and Thursday March 19th

U11 - U18 Registrations will be limited to 16 teams per Division.

U9 Development and Intermediate Overview:

U9 Tournament will run Saturday March 14th, Sunday March 15th and Monday March 16th
Each team is guaranteed 4 games
All players receive a tournament mini banner
Scores will not be posted
Tournament entry is first come, first serve and there are no cancellations
Tournament entry fee for U9 is $700
Teams must have a valid Travel Permit
All games are two 21 minute periods straight time with 1.5 minute buzzer for shift changes
All games must be played as half ice following HNS rules

U9 Development and Intermediate registrations will be limited to 12 teams per Division.

Please note that we will be looking to book ice on either Monday or Tuesday evening for 3 extra hours of ice as a part of the tournament. We will be looking to run a skills competition for all ages. This will have U9 through U18 on the ice together. Skills would be inclusive speed skating lap, hardest shot, accuracy, stick handling course and possibly more. This detail to be shared with teams that register.
